A Lil' File Cabinet Grows Up

A few weeks ago I picked up this lil' cabinet at a thrift store for $5.
The one thing I loved, beside the price, was the bottom drawer.
It's definitly a file cabinet if some sort.
But I had never seen one that had this shape.

Cruising Around Craigslist

I love cruising around Craigslist's free section.
Today I saw this posting ...
"ANYTHING IN TRAILER IS FREE"
So, of course I HAD to go and check it out.
Luckily, hubs was out : )
I knew I was grabbing whatever that lil' table was
(as long as it was in decent condition).
After digging around this is what I came home with.
Yup, the lil' table and a not so pretty chair but,
it's lines are interesting ... don't ya think?
Notice the super sexy gold trim ...
Oh yeah, that's hot !!!
I think this lil' guy is gonna be white with a chalkboard top ...
or maybe all red.
What do you think?
I opened the drawer and look-y at what I get to clean out ...
I am a lil' concerned about the bottom.
I think it might need to be completely replaced.
My other concern is the foot.
Not quit sure how to fix it so it matches the other 3.
The front "toe" is broken off : (
Any suggestions?
So, these will be my challenges for the new year : )
Can't wait. I know they will take some work
but I think they will be beautiful when I'm done.
Thank you Craigslist : )

And the Count Down Begins ...

Guess what ....
Tomorrow is the 1st day of December.
I know you're saying "Yeah, duh..."
BUT, that means that there are 24 days to get
EVERYTHING done, lol.
I thought I would share with you a picture
of me from last year, the day after Christmas.
No, I'm not in Russia. I'm in NYC.
A Florida girl in Time Square and 27* weather. Brrrr ...
What was I thinking?
I flew to NYC to help my best friend Lisa move back to Florida.
I ended up, with what I think,
was walking pneumonia : (
Didn't keep me from enjoying the most amazing city ever : )
A Christmas I will never forget !!!
Here's to a healthier Christmas this year ...

Saying Goodbye to Fall

Howdy guys, how was your weekend?
Today was hectic. I took down all my fall decorations
and hauled them up to the attic.
Then brought down box after box of Christmas goodies.
I thought I would share with you how things
looked around here for fall.
This was our front door & entrance.
Don't ya love the flowers?
They were lovingly donated by my neighbors.
Here's the sign and fountain that are on the right side as you step in ...
 (hand painted by moi : ) )
Do ya see our 4 fish?
I'm especially proud of my first wreath ... I was sad to take it down today
This lil table is in the entrance as you come in the door
My fireplace ...
I'm so sad to see it go in a box till next year but ...
Christmas beauties are a'comin : )

Our Thanksgiving Table

I know Thanksgiving was a few days ago
but I wanted to share with you how our table was set.
Simplicity was the key this year.
 My white ironstone looked beautiful
The napkins are shop rags I picked up
at Home Depot (6 for $2.99) then tea stained
and wrapped with jute. Simple.
Pine cones held the place cards
Easy - Peasy ...
Simplicity at it's finest : )

From a Monster to a Prince

I have noticed that at my Goodwill there are shoppers who try to "hide" items.
Look-y what I found ...
An Army green solid wood chair with a faux leather seat.
Nice no?
Actually, I liked the lines ...
Someone had it hidden in the carpet section. Sillies !!!
Do they not know that I HUNT when I'm there and when I find a bargain
welp, at $7.99 it's MINE !!!
Back to the chair ~
I had seen on Michele Raven Designs site a chair that I wanted to try and recreate
and when I saw this green monster, I knew it would look perfect.
I started by sanding then priming ...
Then my trusty Hairloom White made an appearance and a lil bit of sanding ...

Where a Left Turn Might Take You

Ever walk into a store and feel as if you've come home?
Today while garage-salin', I turned left down a road I had never been on
and found a architectural salvage.
The Sarasota Architectural Salvage
Where to look first?
The large olive jars ...
The furniture ...
The corbels ...
Vintage frames ...
An elephant ...
Or maybe the vintage coke cases?
Oh, so much to see.
Thank goodness for left turns : )

What's a Girl To Do?

What is a girl to do?
Let'me first show you what kind of car I have ...
Livin' in Florida, it's a pleasure to drive. A 2003 green Miata.
I LOVE this car. I've wanted it for 15 years and bought
it 3 years ago. It runs GREAT and would never get rid of it.
What it can't do ... haul furniture.
Which makes garage-salin' and garbage pickin' difficult.
So I think I need to add this to my wish list ...
A 1950 Ford PickUp Truck.
I particularly LOVE the color.
What about you? Do you own a truck, minivan or
are you like me and have friends that can help ya move stuff?

Let the Beautification Begin

So, after my last posting I decided today was the day to begin the transformation
in my garage. It stinks because my garage not only houses our cars, but also
a freezer, a 15ft. Christmas Tree, NUMEROUS storage boxes,
lawn mower and lawn supplies,
my hubby's computer supplies,
my painting supplies
AND my laundry area.

SO, when an organizer says that everything
should have a designated area,
I laugh ... Bwahahaaaa ...

At 8:30am today my garage area looked like this ...
I know A&E's Hoarders will be knocking on my door soon, lol.
Oh yeah, there's like 5 boxes of Halloween decorations
I need to put in the attic too BEFORE I get down
the Christmas stuff : (

Anyhoo, back to my mess ...
I started by taking everything down and separating it into piles.
Cleaning supplies, laundry supplies, painting supplies, etc.
I pulled out the washer and dryer.
Swept the floor and walls.
TONS of cobwebs - BLAH!!!
Removed the nails/ screws and filled all holes.
Washed the walls and started to paint.
I found a beautiful white in the oops section of HomeDepot.
It's a Behr primer/ paint all in one. SWEET !!!
Just hoping it covers the blue.
After 2 coats this is what it looked like.
Clean. Wonder how long it will last, lol.
I put the washer & dryer back.
Moved recycling bins outside and
got to decorating : )
** side note - anyone ever paint their stationary sink?
I'm thinking of spray painting the outside of it.

So much better so far.
Now my laundry sign I made has a home.
I picked this lil' "drip 'n dry" cutie up @Goodwill.
I had no idea where it was gonna go.
I wanna paint it, just not sure what color.
Currently it's holding some towels & scrubbies.
Above my stationary sink I hung this wire rack.
I especially love that it holds my vintage cloths pins.
Sooo, the beautification has begun.
I will be clearing away anything that doesn't have to do with
laundry and getting some purdy in my life : )
I may not have exactly this BUT ...
I can have something that's perfect for me : )
