Last week I posted a few projects like this
and this
And so many of you guys wanted to know just how to do it
so I thought I would show ya
I tried to find something at a garage sale that needed some beauty but couldn't
Instead, I thought I'd show ya how to make a sign, same technique
I first found a board at Home Depot for $0.51
I then painted it with Martha Stewart's paint in Fossil
I decided that I wanted it to look like an aged sign but
I wanted it to match my kitchen so I went
over Fossil with Duck's Egg and Milk Pail
I found a sign I wanted to re-create online
Printed it out and taped it together (11"x24")
I turned it over and colored it in with a pencil
this is what was confusing for a few of you guys
I use colored pencils because they tend to be lighter
carbon paper works too, that is found at art stores here in my town
I tape it to the board and trace the letters
Reminds me of the movie "Chasing Amy"
"I'm an inker not a tracer" ... lol
I paint in the letters with brown craft paint
Then I sand and glaze with Ralph Lauren's Tobacco
Perfecto!!!
Hope that helps ya'all : )

It is amazing how quickly you "aged" your sign. I love the finished project! Thanks for sharing!
I love how you do that.... great tutorial. I want to make some wedding signs for next summer, I'll be using this method for sure. Thanks.
Thanks for the tutorial! Love the sign. I'm following now :0)
Love your signs!!
Excellent tutorial and great techniques for making a sign that looks like a real vintage heirloom! It's refreshing to see a sign project that doesn't use vinyl or other modern shortcuts. The outcome is worth the extra effort for sure!
Best,

I so love this! So many people think you HAVE to have a vinyl cutter to make great signs, this proves you don't!
"catching" you this week!
