This One's for the Birds

While cruisin' around the Big GW Saturday
I came across this amazing tray for $4.99.
WAY more than I wanted to spend BUT I knew
how awesome it would look with my favorite picture on it.
I primed it and painted it with an oops color,
don't cha' just love oops paint?
Then a lil' de-stressin' ...
 Oh so cute, right?
Can ya tell how big it is?
  Now onto the picture ...

I fell in love with this graphic from
I printed it out in 4 different sections then cut each piece out.
Then I decoupaged it on ...
After 2 coats of decoupage glue dried,
I glazed it with some Ralph Lauren's Tobacco.
After the glaze dried I sprayed some poly on it.
While at Goodwill I also found this cute vintage folding seat.
I thought it would look cute holding my tray.
 What do you think?
Now, should I paint the seat to match?
 Maybe ...

De(flight}ful!
(my best bird pun I could come up with).

To paint or to leave for the folding seat-- either would have it's own charm.

Thanks for the smiles and sharing today :)

Deanna, The transformation to the tray is fabulous. I love that you used a larger graphic and the little stool is perfect. Thank you for linking to the Open House party.

So very cute! Love it! I would leave the folding seat as is. It looks more acquired rather than planned.
Great post.

Saw your gorgeous tray over at the Graphics Fairy, congrats for being featured! I love, love, love it! The shape of the tray is perfect! I have a couple of trays that I am about to redo, and I think I just may have to use this sweet little birdie image on one of them. Awesome job!!

What kind of paper did you use to print out the graphics and decopage with Modge podge? I've been wanting to do projects like this, but I am hoping to get the look of a "handpanted" picture. Yours looks so great!Any insight would be really helpful. THANKS!!

Gorgeous! Came here via GF. I wonder if one could photoshop out the background and print the whole image to decoupage...I never tried it in individual clippings, that's a great idea! Thanks for sharing.

Hi Deanne,
I am loving your gorgeous tray! Thank you for the inspiration:)
Right now I am trying to enlarge this adorable birdie image at 150%, as I'm going to decoupage a tray with it as well. I haven't figured out how to print it out in sections. I got the first birdie on the left to print, but the others are cut off. I know you said you printed it out in 4 sections. Any tips that you may be able to give me would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!!
