Oh, Lil' Birdie ... You're so Cute

If your anything like me, you love cute stuff.
While out junkin' Saturday, I found this lil' cutie for $1.50.
I have such a thing for lil' birdies.
Originally it was a candle holder but
I saw it as something totally different.
I started my lil' makeover by drawing a circle,
using a bowl, onto a leftover piece of dropcloth.

After cutting it out, I did a "quick" stitch
Then stuffed with stuffing
To finish it, all I had to do was hot glue it next to my lil' birdie.
Now it's ready for my needles ...
Just a side note, I love when I get these in the mail ...
What about you?

I Put That to Bed

Howdy ! How's your weekend going?
I received SO many nice comments on Kricket's
bedroom that today I thought I would share
with you my Master Bedroom.
It starts with my bed, doesn't it always?
Actually, it starts with the re-finishing of my bed.
Here it is before
Not bad, right? It's a queen pine sleigh bed.
Solid ... beautiful.
I have always loved this bed but I really wanted to lighten our bedroom.
I guess re-doing Monkey's room made me want something more serene.
So, I started as I do all my furniture re-dos ... priming.
Then came 2 coats of paint ...
After some distressing, then glazing with Ralph Lauren's Glaze
in Tobacco, the bed is complete. LUUVE IT !!!!
Before I show you the bed dressed,
I wanna show you something I found for free on the side of the road ...

A coffee table. Interesting, huh?
Now, why would I show you this now?
Because it ended up going here ... above my bed.
Cute, no?
I found the garland at Goodwill.  Turned it into a wreath.
I think I'm gonna do a "drunk man's" paint job on the board
with some white, gray and blue paint to lighten it up.
But I still like how it fills the space.
Now, onto the bed ...
(action shot, Vixen decided he HAD to be in the pictures)

Some Sweet Eye Candy

I'm a bad blogger, a bad bad blogger ...
I forgot to take before pictures of my daughter's bedroom : (
Now that it's done, I wish I had.
I DID however take some before pictures
of the items I refinished : )
Her room went from Hello Kitty Pink
(and I mean PINK) with 1 white wall
and a mod-podge of furniture.
NOTHING matched.
Let's take a look shall we?
(A lil' photo heavy - sorry but it's darn pretty)
I started with her door ....

Then ...
Imagine the wall the bed is on was HK Pink, the bed was black
and ALL the her bedding was Princess's with frogs.
Now her bed is a soft Cream thanks to
Krylon's Satin Ivory.
I made these pillows from baby blankets.
The shelf above the bed is from Pottery Barn that I found at Goodwill
I like that it was the perfect color

Remember this lil' table I rescued off Craigslist?
You can read about that here
I painted the picture and got the print from Graphics Fairy
An adorable tassel I made for her ...
The mirror looks so much better in Ivory
here's the before
A simple peg board I covered with left over fabric that matched her bedding
I made the tacks by hot gluing flowers on flat head tacks.
This is her dirty laundry hamper
I love her desk. Here's it is before, not eye candy ...
And now ... CANDY !!!
The chalkboard "use to be" a mirror
And then there's her bookcase. Which looked like this ...
Now looks like this ... Doesn't even look like the same bookcase, huh?
I made this little sign ... thought it was perfect for her
Thanks so much for indulging in my home's eye candy

A New Make-Over - How Ya Like Me Now?

Have you ever entered a giveaway on a blog and thought
"I'll never win this but it could be fun?"
Welp, a few weeks ago I entered a giveaway from
I thought it would be fun to have my page
done professionally since my knowledge in
web design is so limited.
Then, last week I received the email from Kate
saying that her dear Mother chose me as the winner.
I couldn't believe it.
I was then contacted by Kristin at Simply Klassic Designs
I had no idea what to expect because it was being done online.
Let me just say, Kristin is one of the easiest people
to work with. Not only is she very patient but very professional
but she knows exactly how to guide someone to get them what
they're looking for. She started by sending me a questionnaire
that allowed her to get to know my likes and dislikes.
We worked together for a few days. She sent me a
"test run" of my page and I was blown away.
It was more than I had even expected. I had
seen some of her work. I actually follow
most of the blogs that she had designed and loved them all.
But I never thought mine would be so purdy : )
Boy, was I wrong.
If you're looking for someone to do a
blog for you, Kristin's your girl.
Thank you Kate for choosing me and
thank you Kristin for working with me and
creating something I am so proud of.
This experience has touched my heart : )

To My Surprise

While browsing around my favorite blogs today,
I noticed I was featured at Whisper Wood Cottage.
What a huge compliment.
Amy featured both my A New Set of Blocks post

Make sure to visit Amy, she has a fantastic and inspiring blog!

I WILL Survive

I didn't know how to start this post.
So, I will just start at the beginning
since that's usually the best place to begin.
I went last Tuesday for a Colposcopy
where they took a biopsy.
I got my results yesterday.
I was diagnosed with Stage 1A
cervical cancer.
I guess the reason I'm telling you this
is because I know I'm not alone : )
I know that there are other woman who
have gone threw and survived this journey.
I will be having a cat scan done as
well as a hysterectomy and then radiation.
I WILL be a survivor.
I think this is a lesson to teach me to take care of myself.
To take a lil' time at my favorite place
and spend more quality time with my favorite people
Keeping all positive thoughts !!!

A New Set of Blocks

I'm so excited to share with you today's project.
I picked this lil' cart up today while
browsing Goodwill.
Ain't it cute?
It's one of those lil' carts that you
would put wood blocks on.
I thought there just might be another use for it.
I brought it home and painted it with
Krylon's Glossy Black.
Then I decoupaged some sheet music in the tray.
I added my block stamps.
Oh, so cute.
Thanks for stopping by ~

4Th Chair Free

 When I bought my table,
at a garage sale in November,
I was able to pick up a few chairs
(the black ones) too.
The guy only had 3 so of course
I bought them and thought,
"Oh, I'll find another chair ... sometime".
Well, yesterday while taking my kitty to the vet,
sitting on the side of the road, was this beauty.
Shocking isn't it?
But, I saw the similarities to my others
so of course I grabbed it and threw it in my car.
I especially loved how ALL the spindles
were held by nails and screws.
I'm thinking of doing ALL my furniture this way ...
NOT !!!
I knew it was gonna be a day's job so I started by
taking it all apart. Removing the nails & screws
was the difficult part since the chair was falling apart.
I then sanded and cleaned it with TSP.
It was DISGUSTINGLY dirty.
I "primed" it with a flat back $1 spray paint
I picked up at Walmart.
I really didn't need a heavy primer since it
was pretty much bare wood.
Then I applied Krylon's Glossy Black.
