Not Too Shabby

Morning ya'all.

 It's nice and quiet in my house right now

 I thought I'd tell ya what I've been up to.

 It seems that with summer here, 

I'm not doing too many projects like I usually do.

I did however, do this lil' jem.

 While cruising around the big GW (Goodwill)

I found this puppy ...

 I tend to see TONS of these at my local store

 I hadn't ever seen one with metal feet like these

 So, I thought I would try my hand at refinishing a lil' jewelry box

 I started by removing all the insides

 they pop right out (at least mine did)

 Then after removing all the hardware it gets a good sanding

and cleaning with TSP

To the Beach Cottage

So I've been working with a local consignment shop

 re-finishing any furniture or trinkets that don't sell.

 I picked this sign up on the clearance for $1

After MANY coats of paint & sanding in between 

it was transformed into

Yup, I definitely think this will sell : )

** I'm happy to report that this SOLD today along with 2 other pieces I had
 painted for the shop. YAY !!! : ) **

Have you ever thought about what you would do if you hit the lottery?

 I, like millions of others, have my own list.

 Wanna know what I would do fist if I won

 (after I paid ALL my debt of course)?

 I would go here ...

Some of you maybe saying ... A ball field? Really?

 Oh, but it isn't like any other ball field.

 Ya see it's 

Whenever I see the stadium I hear, AhhAhhhaaah, AhhAahaaah (angels singing)

See, I'm a die hard Yankee fan.

 I could watch any documentary on past Yankee players & teams

Or current ...

I've even watched past games on 

YES (Yankee Entertainment & Sports channel).

 I never miss a game. NEVER.

 I have been lucky enough to see them play 

 in every series, when they come to Tampa, for the past couple years.

  Who is my favorite player?

 Well, I have a few but who makes my heart patter a little?

None other than Mr. Nick Swisher

Not only is he an outstanding outfielder but ...

 that smile

 The Hubby swears you hear a "ding" whenever Swisher smiles.

And when he comes up to bat we whisper, "Swisher"

 Ahhh swoon ...

Hopefully, someday I'll meet him but till then I

 will be an admirer from a far.

 And I will continue to go and see them here in Tampa

Until I hit the lottery I will proudly wear pin stripes ~

A Lil' Queen Bee

First let me say thank you SO much for all the sweet comments

 last week on the passing of my dog Karma.

It helped me so much and made the hurt a little better.

Ever work on something so small and 

wonder how it can take all your time?

 Welp, last week I worked on this lil' occasional table

that I was hired to refinish for a local shop.

Nice lines but WAY too dark.

I started by removing all 64 little screws attaching the leaves

 64 teeny tiny, itty bitty screws

I then hand sanded and painted it with 2 coats of Martha Stewart's Fossil

I sanded around the edges then I applied an image to the top

and painted it with brown craft paint

 Next, I applied Ralph Lauren's glaze in Tobacco. I like how the glaze

 softened all the hand painting. Then I applied a wax.

 After painting the hinges Krylon's Dark Brown I attached the leaves

 I LOVE how the piece looks ... aged, worn & LOVED

Who's with me?

My Lil' Kricket Grows Up

Today for me was a happy/sad day.

 My baby, Kricket, finished the 3rd grade

 It was a fun year. Along with the usual reading & writing

she learned about geography,

 started a little bit of algebra, learned cursive,

 and got to watch the birth of ducklings.

 She performed in her first talent show

 She got her first bearded dragon, Paco

 But lost her first dog Karma

 She decided on her own to get her hair cut (9.5" cut off)

 And continues to make us laugh

I'm happy to see her grow but I'm sad because she's no longer a baby : )

 

Today I Lost My Sweet Karma

Today was NOT a good day.

 I lost my best friend Karma today.

 This video was made last year after we almost 

 lost her from pyometra.

  Today she lost her battle with cancer : (

 Thank you Karma for always being that one friend

 I could ALWAYS turn to.

 For laying with me when I was really sick.

 Licking my face when I would cry.

 And being right there when I was happy.

 You were the best dog my girls could have ever had.

You gave us the BEST 11 1/2 years : )

 RIP my dear sweet friend.

 We love you and will miss you SO much!!!
