A Summer 2012 House Tour

For the past couple months I haven't been able to really tackle any refinishing projects. One reason is that my house has been FULL of people. It seems there's ALWAYS someone here. That's not a bad thing unless you're me and you tend to pull out all your stuff on the dining room table (which is in the middle of the room). The Hubby does the same thing whenever he works on a computer. The table looks like a landing strip for EVERYTHING. So needless to say, until school starts and everyone's working, big projects will have to wait and there's A LOT coming : )

The one thing I have done is moving stuff around.
The Hubby always jokes that he hopes he never goes blind because things get moved ALL the time in our house. Doesn't everyone move furniture every couple of weeks?

Well, this morning I had the house to myself. After a little straightening up, ok A LOT of straightening up, I thought I'd take some pictures of the house. I've made a few changes over the summer.
So using an app on my iPhone here goes ...

Starting at the front door

This cabinet has been refinished into a pantry - an upcoming post : )
The small hallway that leads to our bedroom
The cedar chest is an upcoming project to be finished in a few weeks : )
I moved the bed in front of the French doors
I love that it's the center of attention now
The steamer trunk holds my crafting supplies and sewing machine
It makes a great seat for getting dressed : )
Now, back out into the main part of the house and
of course Chein MUST be in the picture
Crates stacked on top of each other are used for storage for The Hubby's
computer stuff along with my vintage goodies
My antique shoe rack was moved to the other side of the room and holds more
vintage odds n' ends
I wanted to keep the mantle simple as well as the fireplace
I'm keeping the cabinet below the tv simple as well
I moved the dining room table
We're eventually gonna be getting wood floors but for
now with 2 Goldens and 3 kids the floors are gonna have to wait
The $1 table was moved here to use as a buffet table with
a couple bistro chairs. The "Family" sign finishes it off (and hide the thermostat)
Lastly, the kitchen. Not much has changed since I showed ya the last time
I just wanted to show it off : )
Hope I didn't bore ya. Just thought it'd be fun to take a small tour.

On a side note - I won't be posting any junkin' finds this week.
I know you're heartbroken.
I DID head out with all good intentions Saturday of finding some awesome stuff. I left the house at my usual time of 7am. At 8am I has stopped at this sale
(I know not that big but ya never know you're gonna find unless ya stop)
But, when I got in my car to leave ... nothing. Car was dead.
Called the tow truck and waited for 45 minutes.
The only good thing that made me smile about it was the tow truck driver, Steve, that towed me home. Thank you Steve from UpTow that saved my morning.
My starter has been fixed and my lil' girl is home so hopefully that means I'll find some good junk next Saturday ~

How did you do? Find anything cool lately?

What an awesome home tour. I just loved it. Loved all the creative ideas and uses for vintage storage. I love ideas for home offices that use vintage things, wire baskets, etc. You have given me some great ideas. I will be back to visit your blog. I don't think I have ever been here before and it is wonderful!

Your house looks beautiful - I really love the kitchen table and bench - and I can't believe that table near it was $1! What a lucky find.

I found your blog while googling for Truck pictures and reposted with credit the 1950s Ford Truck from your "What's a Girl to Do Post."

Looking forward to reading more!
