Howdy y'all ...
So, I told ya about the cabinet I picked up Saturday for $20
I LOVED the skeleton key that came with it
The mahogany wood on the inside
And the wavy glass, bubbles and all. I knew it was OLD
Miss Mustard Seed's portfolio
I knew I wanted to use this as my inspiration
I love how the darker inside really showed off her ironstone
So I started by taping and papering off the glass and I did a few coats of my homemade chalk paint. You can find the recipe I used here.
The paint color is called Designer White from Ace Hardware
After allowing the two coats to dry, I did some distressing then finished with
some Special Dark Wax from Minwax
I soaked the brass brackets that hold the shelves in vinegar just to make sure they were clean
I then cleaned the inside and shelves with Murphy's Oil Soap
Now it's a beautiful display case
I LOVE the keyhole
It's perfect. $20 well spent : )

You have transformed this piece into a showpiece! Your ironstone looks fabulous displayed in it. I have made and used homemade chalk paint using plaster of paris and I think it works great.
Oh My! What a great find!!! You hit the jackpot. I love it painted white. Leaving the inside dark really makes the white inside pop. I love it.
