Looking for Your Opinions : )

Howdy ya'all ...

I've been bustin' my butt on the dresser found across from a friend's house
Do ya remember when I teased you with it a few weeks ago?

Whelp, let me tell ya, it was a HOT MESS!!!!
Once it's finished I'll show ya pictures of what surprises I found after I took it the drawers out.
EWWWW !!!!!!!!

After 3 days of stripping it (and it's not all the way done, I'm still stripping out paint from the bottom detail on the first drawer) here's what it looks like now

Not too bad, right?

Anywhoo, my question is should I paint the bottom/ stain the top, paint/glaze the whole thing, stain the whole thing OR just wax/buff it?

Thought it would be fun to see what others think.

It's really a pretty piece and after some sanding would be in ok condition for a simple wax

 Let's take a poll shall we ...
(Poll closed)
I would actually love to know your opinions in 2 days not 6
but I couldn't figure out how to change it, lol.

What should I do?

*** Thanks guys for your votes. You've helped me to figure out what to do ***

This Weekend's Junkin' Finds #2

Hey ya'all ...
How's your weekend going so far?

Ever have one of those days when you don't know exactly where you're going?
Ya know that your doing one thing or another but you have no set plan how you're gonna get there?

Yesterday was one of those days for me.
I knew that I would be junkin' but where, I had no idea.

I started my day like I start EVERY Saturday ... at Starbucks.
Sad when you walk in the door and they have your drink waiting for you because
they watch you pull into the parking lot.

Anyhoo, with my trenta (that's 31oz. for you non- coffee drinkers ; ) )
iced coffee with skim/half n' half
(trying to cut the calories ... yea, I gotta keep telling myself that)
in hand I head out to find my goodies.

I started at Goodwill where I found these 2 cutie pies for $3.99 a piece ...

Two milk glass with brass lights. Aren't they adorable?
And they're purrrfffeeeccctttt. No dents, chips or scratches.
Now I gotta find the perfect shades for them.

Then I stumbled on a street sale in my local Amish area.

If you've never been to an Amish sale, let me tell ya,
 they're AMAZING.

The Amish that come to Sarasota are usually Pennsylvania Dutch
and they bring with them vinatge/antique pieces that you really can't find here in Florida.
Last year, I found this amazing ladder for $3
and a booo koo amount of blue Ball jars with zinc lids.

So, whenever I see that there's an Amish sale going on, I'm there.
Let me tell ya, the sale didn't let me down. They were having a HUGE street sale.
Almost every home was having a sale.
 Here's my finds ...

This OLD wooden folding chair for $.75
They had $1 on it but I got an extra $.25 off because it was missing a slat. I didn't care ; )

It's even stamped ... LUV it

Another crate ... SO many people commented on this piece as I was carrying it around

It's a big boy. He's gotta cool label as well ....

2 cute shabby chic pillow cases ...

A block seat for $1 that I'm gonna take from this ... to this which sell for $169

The coolest things I found were these antique hinges for $2

AMAZING patina, right?
I think they'll look sha...weet on the blue shutters I did a few weeks ago

Lastly, yesterday I popped over to the Sarasota Archtecturial Salvage Yard
My ALLLLL time favorite place to be.
(That's where the coffee sack covered blocks were from)

I found these 2 pieces

An AMAZING 1927 fireplace grate for $10. More money that I would have normally spent
but I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it

I think it looks great on this shelf.
A lil' interest never hurt anyone ...
**On a side note, see the box on the bottom?
Notice the wording?
"Rio Negro" ... Black River
I picked it up a few weeks ago at an estate sale for $2 filled to the brim with pine cones.
I'll show ya later in the week how I aged it : )
This antique hing will be transformed into something ...
just not sure yet what but it's cool and I don't see them too often

So, how was your weekend?
Did you find any cool junk?

A Pinterest Inspired Spring Cloche

OMGoodness ya'all ...
I can NOT believe just how many of you guys liked my lil' lantern, crate turned bench
and the evolution of my dining room table.
I have received such sweet comments from you guys and I've met some new
followers. Welcome to ya' all : )
All your kind words REALLY touched my soul ~

You like me ... You really like me : )

I have to tell ya that I have an addiction.

Some of you who know me really well know that I have an addiction to coffee.
Yep, I know that and I accept that addiction.

But, I'm waiting for the moment when I come in with a cup of coffee
to sit on my laptop and I see my family standing there
 only to hear them say,
"Deanna, we love you. We want you to know that we think you have
a problem. We would like you to go to see someone
 for you Pinterest addiction."

 It's BAD!!!!

Like being out at dinner, cruising Pinterest while waiting for our table, BAD.
Like lying in bed on my iPhone, KaRuezIn, EVERY NIGHT till 1-2 AM BAD.

  Ok, I don't ignore my family while I'm ...
 Ka Ruez In'

 That's what I call it.

 I'm KaRuezIn Pinterest.

But, I find SOOOOO many ideas and I know I'm not the only one, right?
 I'm not ... right ...?
Please tell me I'm not alone ...
 Do.  I.  Need. Therapy?

Nahhhh .... lol

Let's see ... I have currently 7 boards and 704 pins.
 That's not too many ...

 I know it's a lot.

Anyhoo, the reason for this post ....

I was KaRuezIn today and I found this
Be still my heart. SO sweet ...

I had just stained the base of this cloche and
I wanted something cute for my entertainment center

So, I grabbed a real live nest that I had saved from last summer,
a few odds n' ends and my spring cloche was born ...

A piece of jute holding a skeleton key bought at the now $1.50
section of Michael's wrapped around the top finishes everything up

**Tiny rant ... why oh why Michael's must you raise it $.50. It's not alot
but the $1 section was my most favoritest place. A DOLLAR ...
Ok rant over back to the program ...

So purdy ...

An Unfinished Table to Perfection

Hi guys ...
 How ya doin?

I've had the "create" bug lately.
That's what The Hubby calls it.

I've been wanting to move things around.
 Paint. Primp. Better'er up things.

Last night I decided that I would paint the base of my dining room table.

 I LOVE this table.
Here it is a year and a half ago when I bought it from a garage sale for $40
including the 3 black chairs. It was an unfinished pine table in a Mexican style.
Remember when that look was big about 10yrs ago?
I had a few BIG pieces in the Mexican style that I've re-styled to fit in my house
and I knew this table would be no different.

I had always wanted a big table that everyone could gather around
and this puppy easily seats 8.

In this picture you can kinda see how I had deepened the top
I just watered down a brown/black craft paint and just brushed it on.
It gave it an old barn wood look.
I liked it but I never sealed it so the paint just came off.

Come On Baby Light My Fire

Howdy, howdy, howdy ...

A couple weeks ago, I picked up this adorable lantern at a garage sale for $1
and today I was able to convert it into a cute nightlight.

I think it looks cute sitting on this cabinet

A Review of Inn=Her Beauty Anti-Aging Products

Howdy guys ...

So, some of you may not know that I'm a freelance makeup artist in my other life.
I sound like a double agent, don't I? I wish, lol.

Anyhoo, I have a YouTube channel which shows all different types of makeup I've done on myself. Mostly special effects and theatrical which are my favorites.

A few weeks ago I was contacted by the marketing director from
asking me if I would be interested in testing and reviewing a few of their products.

So, I took a look at their site to see what kind of products they had.
They have a Specialty Skin Care line by Synora Beauty Essentials that focus on anti-aging and prevention. To me that was like angels singing, ahhhh aaaa aaaaahhh.

Now, I will be honest with ya, I'm going to be 42 years old next month. I live in Florida. I wear makeup really only on Saturdays unless I'm doing a makeup video for my YouTube channel.
I do extreme makeup usually consisting of a heavy oil based makeup, powder, etc.
I do wash my face every night with Cetaphil facial cleanser followed by Nivea moisturizer and in the morning I really just rinse my face with warm water followed by a light moisturizer then a sunscreen.

I'm like any woman though and as I age I'm seeing more and more tiny lines around my eyes,
mouth, forehead and neck (oh and a few grey hairs ... they're there. I see em').

I have tried NUMEROUS anti-aging products. There are probably a good 15 bottles of moisturizer
under my sink that I tried for 6 weeks (usually that's what it takes to see any results) and when
I didn't see any improvement, it found it's way to the black hole of products.
So, I was game for whatever I was going to be sent.

About a week ago I got a box and in it was Inn=Her's
5 in 1 TLC Cleansing Milk, 5 in 1 Harmony Day Cream, Neck Firming Gel,
the Eye of the Beholder Gel, and 3 tubes of their 2 in 1 Seductive Lips.

The first thing I did was open everything up to see what they smelled like.
The cleansing milk had a honey scent. Kinda sweet.
I didn't care for the scent of the day cream. Can't tell ya what it is.
Not bad (offensive) just not my scent.
The neck & eye gels didn't really have a odor
and the lips products had a sweet smell.

That night I used the Cleansing Milk. I applied it with a microfiber facial washcloth
that I buy at the Dollar Store.
I liked the texture. It has an exfoliating feel which
helps with clogged pores and removes any makeup. I then rinsed it off with warm water.
NEVER USE HOT WATER ON YOUR FACE. IT'S NOT GOOD FOR YOUR SKIN.
My face felt SMOOTH and had a soft pink glow.

I then applied the Neck Firming Gel.
I don't have sagging skin really on my neck but there are little lines.
I noticed immediately that my neck looked smooth.
After that I applied the Eye of the Beholder Gel.
That too made the skin around my eyes look smoother.
Since I didn't have a night moisturizer I applied my Nivea.

The next morning I did the same process but followed it with the Day Cream.
After 10 minutes (after I brushed my teeth and my hair) I put my sunscreen on and I was
 ready to face the day.

I've been using everything now for over a week.
I really like how the products make my skin feel and look.
I'm not saying that I look 10 years younger but I would say that I looked 5 years younger ; )

The one product that was just ok for me was the Seductive Lips.
It reminded me of the lip plumpers that were big about 10 years ago.
Did you ever buy the lip plumpers from Victoria Secrets?
That's what these reminded me of.

I used them a few times but since my lips aren't what I would consider a problem
I didn't use them every time but I DO have a tube in my purse for that special night out ; )

Here's a few pictures I took after I just washed my face tonight.
I know they're not the best picture but they're taken with my iPhone.
You can tell how smooth my skin is.
The first picture is without a flash, the second is with.

I would say that I would recommend the cleanser, day cream neck and eye gels.
They're GREAT products. I've already told customers about the company.

I didn't receive any compensation for my review, just the products and
I don't receive any future compensation.

If you're looking for a REALLY good anti-aging line,
 this is a great choice.

SOOO Many Palettes ... SOOO Little Car

Today, while on my way to pick my daughter up from work,
I was VERY VERY VERY tempted to run someone off the road.

Now, I have to start by saying that I have a Miata. NOT a very intimidating car but
when I pulled behind this truck stopped at a red light my heart skipped a beat.
Ok, I might be getting a tad over dramatic but come on,
wouldn't you want to run this guy off the road
and raid his truck?

The bottom 4 palettes were what got me.
Have you ever seen a red or yellow palette?

I kept saying,
"Just turn around and about 1/2 mile make a right then a left.
My house is the 1st on the corner. Leave all ya want."

Makes me wonder where he was heading. If I didn't have to get my daughter
 I might've followed him.

On a side note ... when I showed the picture to The Hubby he said
"Gee, that's really safe"
Funny, that thought never crossed my mind.

OH SO MANY PALETTES. JUST HOPE THEY FIND A GOOD HOME
: )

A Primitive Bench/Table Built with My GoTo Girl's Help

Howdy guys ...
How's your week going so far?

I was sitting here thinking that my grandma will be gone
15yrs this year, God Rest Her Soul.
The interesting thing though is that she never saw
a cell phone, DVR, plasma tv's (flat screens for that matter), GPS,
a computer and the internet, I know she would be interested in it but I can
 just hear her saying
"Deanna, come help me send this letter (email)".
And forget about her getting on Skype, lol.
My grandma missed out on meeting interesting people like I've met.

I guess the reason why I bring this up is
I have been blessed with the friendships I've met here in BlogLand.
So many creative people who just want to help.
Who share their knowledge without any hesitation and
honestly care in seeing others blossom.

One person I've had such an experience with is Gail over at

I've gone to her SO many times with this and that. Every single time
she not only helps but wants to see whatever I've finished.
She's truly a sweet and caring lady ...
Gail, this lil project is dedicated to you : )

So, I had this vintage crate/box that I picked up at a garage sale awhile ago for $1 with NO idea just what I was gonna do with it. I was immediately drawn to it. It felt as if it had been salvaged out of someone's barn. I had used is to store cookbooks on top of the frig for awhile. But after Christmas I changed the kitchen around a lil and the box came down. It sat on the living room floor for the past couple weeks until I had the bright idea to convert it into a bench/table. All I had to do was flip it over and attach some legs. I just happen to have 4 spindle legs in the garage that I had picked up at a garage sale for $.25 a piece. But how do I attach them? Gail was my go-to gal for just such a problem. I sent out a quick email with a picture explaining my situation. I think Gail might sit on her computer because she answered me SO quickly. I'm not kidding, this woman is golden. She even sent me a link from her site where she did a similar project (not quit but close enough)

Wanna see what I did?
Here's the steps ...
I cut a $.52 oops board from Home Depot in half (had it in the garage)

I removed the screws from the spindles

My 2012 "To-Do" List

Howdy ya'all ...
Guess what? It's time for me to do my goals for 2012

Can you believe we're 1/2 way threw January already?
 Me either.

So, I was going over my goals for 2011 and I did pretty good
 in getting them accomplished.

First, there was my Master Bedroom.
I DID move my furniture (like 100 times, not really but it seemed like it)
 and my bed got painted.
I'm in the process of painting my room right now
 Pottery Barn's Weimaraner.
I'm still debating whether I wanna do beadboard wallpaper and trim.
Here's where I started though : )
I have to say that I did NOTHING in my Master Bathroom
so that's going on my 2012 "To-Do" list
Kricket's room got a complete makeover
Our living room gotta facelift
(wow, I HAVE GOTTA to make a slipcover for the chair SOON)

The kitchen became cohesive
The Hubby's office is being turned into my oldest daughter's bedroom
and nursery (she's due in March) so that will be on my 2012 "To-Do" list
 So, to sum everything up
 2012 "To-Do" List :
Whole House
1. paint doors black and repaint all trim creamy white

Master Bath
1. paint cabinet and counter
2. attach wood frame around HUGE mirror
3. possibly replace lighting

Mandy's Room/Nursery
1. buy new bed/crib
 2. paint
 3. make curtains for closet (currently being used as our pantry)

 Garage
1. find better storage for yard equipment, paint, tools, etc.
 2. KEEP IT CLEAN

Lani
1. re-screen
 2. decorate

 Yard
1. plant new hedges by sidewalk
 2. plant a butterfly garden

Not too bad for a to-do list.
Of course I know there will be more that I'll wanna do.
 : )
