This Weekend's Junkin' Finds #5

G' morning ya'all ....

How was your weekend?

I spent mine junkin' and watching as many Oscar nominated movies as I could
preparing myself for the big night.

Although I loved The Artist

My heart belonged to Hugo

What a visually beautiful movie and a GREAT story.

I really enjoyed ALL the movies nominated.

The one movie that surprised me was The Tree of Life.

I would say it probably was one of the most beautiful movies I've ever seen.
The story was very deep but definitely a feast for the eyes.

Ok, onto my junkin' finds this week.
I gotta warn ya, there's ALOT this week and for such a small amount of money

Busy Busy Busy - Dresser & Chair Beautified

Howdy guys ...

How's your week coming along?

I was excited to show you guys a few pieces that I've been working on this week.

I didn't get to show you guys what I picked up last weekend while junkin'
because it started to rain and I had to rush to get everything in the house
but I picked up these 2 pieces for $27,
not at the same garage sale.

$20 for this dresser ...

And $7 for the chair (rough huh?).

If you caught my last post you know that I washed my new
iPhone 4S in the washing machine. Still having a hard time without it : (
The reason I mention it is I had SO many process pictures
of what I had done. I'm just happy that I had downloaded these 2 off my phone
BEFORE I decided to wash it, lol.

Anyhoo, I've been bustin' my hiney on em' and here's what they look like today ...

Mixed Emotions

Today is a day of mixed emotions.

Ya see, yesterday I did something you are NOT suppose to do with your
16gig white 4S iPhone ....

Wash it in the washing machine with your daughter's school uniforms
I'm sure you're not suppose to wash it in any clothes.

YUP, a FULL cycle.
Warm water. Detergent. Softener.
The WHOLE sha-bang a bang.

And wouldn't ya know it,
water damage is NOT covered under the warranty
AND there's a water sensor built into it so they would know if water was the cause
of the phone not going on.
DARN-IT!!!!!

So The Hubby and I scrambled looking on the internet to see if there was a way we could fix it.
I have only had the phone since the beginning of November, so not long.

We found that you can place it in a bowl of silica (which I did not have)
or dry rice (which I happen to have plenty of) and leave it for 48-72 hours.

SO, I'm crossing my fingers that it turns on on Thursday : /

Today however, I went to Moffitt Cancer Center for my check up
and I'm cancer free. I've hit my FIRST year.

YAY !!!!

Kicking cancer's butt and takin' names....

That's right sucka : )

How you doin'?

A Review/ Giveaway : My Memories Scrapbooking Suite Software

Howdy ya'all ...

I LOVE scrapbooking. I started about 10yrs ago when my Kricket was born.
I must admit that whenever I get interested in something, I MUST have EVERYTHING I can buy no matter just how big or small it is. So, of course, I have TONS ... and I DO stress TONS ... of scrapbooking supplies. I've started storing everything in trunks and suitcases all over the house. Paper here. Scissors there. So, imagine my excitement when I was contacted by the people over at My Memories asking me if I would be interested in reviewing their products. Of course, I'd LOVE too. No extra products to buy and I can get similar enjoyment of creating memories for my family.

I wanted to make sure that the My Memories Suite software would work on my computer since I use a Mac (which it does GREAT) and then I was unto downloading it straight from the site. I downloaded it in no time (all together about 10 minutes) and I was playing in scrapbook land. With a little playing it was quit easy. I even went back to the site to download a few different packs that were offered for free.

There is SO much to do with it that it was hard for me to decide what I wanted to scrap first.
Hmmmm, whelp with Valentines Day & my Wedding Anniversary being just around the corner (yes, I married The Hubby on Valentine's Day. That way he has a shot with remembering at least 1 gift, lol) I thought I could play with that. Also, I thought it would be great to print out and frame in an antique frame. Easy peasy Anniversary gift (ain't no thang but a chicken wang) : )

 Here's what I created ...

Awe, ain't they cute?
Funny, The Hubby hasn't changed. Me .... whelp, I've changed BUNCHES !!!!

Oh to be in my 20's again ... 42 is just 4 days from today .... EKKKK !!!!

Funny story ... neither The Hubby nor I can remember the exact year we got married. It was either 1997 or 1998 .... OR it COULD be 1996, lol. We laugh every time our Anniversary comes around.
So I just put "1998" on here - fingers crossed it's right.

I think that The My Memories Suite is pretty easy to use and there are endless things that you can do with it. At about $40 it's WELL WORTH the price. Just imagine all the fabulous gifts you could make like calendars, cards, mugs, t-shirts and so much more. I could even see is being used to create a website. The possibilities are endless.

As a special treat for It's Just Me reader, My Memories is giving away a Share the Moments code that will provide you with a $10 discount when you buy the My Memories Suite Scrapbook software and a $10 coupon to the My Memories online store - that's a $20 value! The code is STMMMS94086. What a deal right?

SO, I thought it would be fun in honor of my almost 300 followers, my birthday (Feb. 11th), my Anniversary (Feb. 14th) and my 1st year of being cancer free (Feb. 25th)
I would host my first giveaway.

This Weekend's Junkin' Finds #3

Howdy ya'all ...

I had SOOOO much fun junkin' this past weekend.

I knew this post was gonna be a fun one.

First of all, I wanted to show ya something that you just never think you'll see while out junkin'

Now, I don't live in the country. I wasn't shopping in the country. In fact, you can see I was
at a strip mall/ business center. And there's this lil' gal.
Ain't she a cutie. Her handler was cute too. I had to grab a picture. Should have asked the
horsie's name but right after I took the picture a TON of lil kiddies came up to pet her.

Anyhoo, back to my finds ...

I think these were my favorite things I found.

From a Dresser to a Chest of Drawers

I have to start this by screaming,
"YAY IT'S FINISHED!!!!"
WARNING : this post is picture HEAVY but welllll worth it : )

Let me first take you to the beginning ...
About 3 weeks ago a friend contacted me asking if I would be interested in
a chest of drawers (I was school'd on the REAL name by a GOOD friend, you know who you are ; ) )
that was set out for the trash across from her house.
I said, "Send me a picture and I'll let ya know"

This is what she sent me

YES, OF COURSE I WANTED IT !!!

Looks good from the picture right?
When I got my first glance at the piece I KNEW I was going to have a challenge on my hands.
My friend, who helped me pick it up, kept asking me if I was sure I was willing to take it on.
I thought if I didn't feel confident it could go out with MY trash but I was up for the challenge.

We hauled it home (it was HEAVY) and
I got started creating a master piece

I started by removing the back which basically fell off

Now, I must say, that I have picked up MANY things off the side of the road
to work on and have NEVER come across anything this scary.

I warn you, this is BAD!!!

The Chest of DrawersThat Goes On & On

Howdy ya'all ...
How was your week?

As I write this, I'm singing to myself ...
"This is the piece that never ends,
oh it goes on and on my friends"

I wanted to first say THANK YOU to all of you guys that
took my lil poll. It was my first time doing something like that.
I just had way TOO many ideas about what I was gonna do with this chest of drawers
all of which would have looked awesome.

I'm kinda glad there were more votes for the stained top/ painted & glazed bottom
I secretly wanted to try that.

I thought it would be fun to give you a sneak peek
 Kinda a lil teaser ...

Bet you can't wait to see the rest, huh?

All I got left to do it
 1. Poly the top
 2. Wax the bottom
 3. Paint the handles
 4. Have a piece of luan cut for the back
 5. line the inside

 So, another couple days ...
 UGH !!!!

That's a good UGH, Lol
: )

So, how you doin'? (In my best Joey voice)
