I've Been a Busy Busy Girl

Wow, have I been a busy girl.

Saturday was my bi-annual community garage sale
and like every other time I spent the past 3 weeks just getting ready.
Although I didn't get pictures of the actual sale (I was out at 6am setting up and slammed by 7)
I DID get what my garage looked like before. TONS of stuff was set up down my driveway.

I was shocked that I had 15 pieces of furniture sold by 7:45am.
I had regulars coming as my first customers and met/made future customers.
By the time I closed at 1 I only had 2 pieces of furniture (a side table and wooden filing cabinet) left
with very LITTLE of anything else.

After the garage sale I went and had my hair cut. It had been 2 years since it had been touched
and I LOVE the way it turned out.
It's a nice thing to have your hairdresser tell you that you have
strong healthy hair : )
Watch out Tawny Kitaen .... LOL.

Then I had a wonderful lunch with my best friend Chris.
We had amazing burgers and truffle fries at Libby's .... YUM !!!!

I wanted to show you what I was working on today ... Ya know I can't sit still : )
My spare bathroom has been a disaster for awhile. I patched the holes sometime
ago and waited till inspiration hit me.
Scary isn't it?

While cruising around Pinterest I found what I wanted from the amazing

I knew it wouldn't be exact but it was the feel that I wanted.
I also used Allen & Roth beadboard wallpaper that I picked up at Lowes for $20
as well as some Zinsser 1-2-3 primer.
So, I started by sanding all the patches, measuring how high I wanted the wallpaper to go.
I then removed the sink and the top of the toilet (MUCH easier to wallpaper with them gone).

I primed where the wallpaper would go then I used some
Ralph Lauren paint that I had in the garage (sorry the name is faded
put up the wallpaper and presto, what a difference.

With the toilet and sink back it looks like a completely different bathroom.
The opening next to the mirror was where the old medicine
cabinet was. I'm turning it into a recessed shelf trimmed by a vintage frame : )

Now all I gotta do is put up the trim,
paint the door trim/door and mirror then I can decorate.

(Sorry for the blurry picture)
So much better right?

This Weekend's Junkin' Finds #11

Howdy ya'all ....

I almost didn't post this past weekend's junkin' finds because there really just wasn't much.

But, what I DID find were cool and one of them was a GREAT find.

Let me show ya ...

I Won A Liebster Blog Award

This past week I've been battling a stomach bug. I was starting to think that I had food poisoning.
Anywhoo, when I opened my laptop this morning to check my email
I got a message from Beth over at
Brown Sparrow Studio telling me that I've been honored with a

Liebster Blog Award

I learned that the Liebster Award is given to bloggers who have inspired their peers through their work.  The award takes its name from the German word meaning,
 “beloved, dearest or favorite”.

Wow !!! That definitely put a smile on my face. As I researched more, I found out that not only do I get to accept this award, but I get to pass it on to 5 more blogs that inspire me. The award comes with four conditions that each recipient must satisfy when accepting:

  1. Choose 5 up-and-coming blogs to award the Liebster to.
  2. Show your thanks to the blogger who gave you the award by linking back to them.
  3. Post the award on your blog. List the bloggers you are giving the award to with links to their sites. Leave comments on their blogs so they know about the award.
  4. Share 5 random facts about yourself that people don't know about you
So in alphabetical order, here are the top 5 blogs that motivate me.

* Meg over at Nutmeg Place

* Kerrie from Boxers Cleats and Me

* Erin at His & Hers

* Jennifer from Southern Junk Chic

and last but not least

Now the hard part. Five random facts people don't know about me (at least I don't think people know these about me).

  1. I would love to have a farm (k, that's not a secret) and raise Golden Retrievers
  2.  I hate guns. Ok, that's not a secret BUT I LUUUUVVVV to shoot zombies. I'm addicted to playing Left 4 Dead. It worries The Hubby sometimes, lol.
  3.  I use to do Monica Seles's nails
  4.  I started to move my furniture when I was 9 years old. I use to stay up on Friday nights and re-arrange my bedroom. I then re-painted my first piece (without my mother's approval) when I was 14. I painted my antique dresser from white to black. My Mom was not too happy.
  5. I use to be a pool shark. When I was a single mother (100 years ago) I would play pool to make some extra money. I still enjoy playing but I'm not as good as I once was.

Whelp, there ya go. The things that make ya go Hmmmmm? LOL.

Congrats girls.

Please make sure to stop by and show them some love : )

*** I'll be showing ya what I found this past weekend .... here's a hint, it wasn't much : ( ***

My Chest of Drawers Long Lost Twin

It's hard to think that I have been writing this bog for almost 2 years now.
When I first started writing it, it was geared towards makeup products,  makeup tutorials and reviews.
Picking up where my YouTube channel left off.

After a while though, I became VERY bored and started to direct my posts towards my home.
Projects that I had completed. Some crafty things I had done and some of my junkin' finds.

It always surprises me whenever I get an email telling me how I've inspired someone.

That happen this weekend. I received an email from a reader named Jennifer, who explained that about a month ago she had pinned my chest of drawers

(one of the most pinned pieces I've ever done)
from my Dresser to a Chest of Drawers post on one of her Pinterest boards as an inspiration.

Then a week ago, her and her husband were at a garage sale where they bought a chest of drawers for $10. They even needed to repair a drawer because it broke while they were trying to load it in the trunk. Jennifer was looking over her Pinterest for inspiration and realized that it was the EXACT same chest of drawers as the one she had posted

Amazing right?

Anywhoo, Jennifer worked her magic and after a lil wood filler, primer, paint and glaze ...

They could be twins. They're almost the same color.

Jennifer has a new baby in her home so her blog has kinda taken a backseat (as so it should ; ) )
but I feel honored that I could inspire her.

Ya just never know how you will inspire someone : )

Ya know, I believe we will things to us whether we know it or not.

That's why I'm willing peace, love, happiness and some mu-lah to do what I want ; )

This Weekend's Junkin' Finds #10

Howdy guys ...

Hope you're having a wonderful holiday.

I went out yesterday and tried my hardest to junk but with it being a holiday weekend, there didn't seem to be too many sales. I actually drove around for an hour before I saw my first garage sale. I was able to go to a couple estate sales and a couple garage sales as well as my favorite antique mall where a seller was closing her booth and everything was 60% off.

Here's what I bought ...

Decorating in Your PJ's

G' morning ...

Are you addicted to Pinterest? I know I am.
But, I have to admit that I have a new addiction

Have you played on it yet?

It's ALOT of fun and it's free

Just create an account and start to play

You see, Olioboard allows you to create the rooms of your dreams

It gives you lists of rooms then hundreds of goodies to fill em' with

I thought it would be fun this morning to play
Here's what I created ...

The cool thing is after you create a room it gives you the ability to buy the items in the room.

It's like window shopping in your pj's, kinda like I'm doing now : )

She Did It !!!!!

Hiya ya'all ...

The past month and a half here in Sarasota (all of Florida actually) is quit busy.
Ya see, we have Spring breakers AND the Grapefruit League.
Ya maybe asking what the Grapefruit League is. Well it's the baseball
Spring training league here in Florida.
It's great because you get to see major league players up close.

This past week I took Kaley to her first baseball game.
I had promised her that if she could sit through 9 innings of a Spring training game, I would take her to a major league game ($8 ticket apposed to a $58 ticket).

We arrived a lil over an hour early to the Orioles/ Tigers game.

Kaley was greeted by The Orioles Bird (the mascot for the Orioles) and since we're Yankee fans,
she wore her Yankee hat. The Oriole Bird grabbed her hat and started to eat it.

She got her hat back and made a friend ...

Heading threw the concourse we found
a great map showing where all the teams play around Florida.
Kaley got quit excited. I see a roadtrip next year.

Before the game started, we stood and watched the players warm up.  Kaley asked for a ball. Actually, I asked because she was too shy. Gerald Laird (the Tiger's catcher) promised her that if he got a ball hit to him he would give it to her. So as promised, the first ball he caught he threw it to Kaley.
Kaley kept saying they were now friends.

(on a side note Laird was injured during the 2nd inning by the Tiger's 2nd baseman, Kelly. Kaley did NOT care for Kelly because he hurt her friend ...
she was too cute).

After watching most of the game from our seats, we moved down to above the bull pin to watch the pitcher warm up and while just standing there, Kaley was given yet ANOTHER ball.

There had to be about 5 boys standing there and the pitching coach, Jeff Jones,
walks over to Kaley and HANDS her her SECOND ball of the day. Notice she didn't have her Yankee hat on. I told her that was probably why, oh and because she's a CUTIE !!!

So now I'm planning her trip to "The Trop" (where the Rays play) to see her
Yankees at a major league game.

I LOVE Spring break but love it more when it's over cuz I can yell,
"PLAY BALL" !!!!

I'm partying at:

The Desk I Don't Hate Anymore

Hiya guys ...

I've been working on our new office space and today I finally finished the desk.

I bought this 1960's desk at Goodwill about 4 years ago to use as my makeup table.
I hated the finish on it and wanted to refinish it but never got around to it.

Because the drawers are so big it worked wonderfully until I decided that I wanted to scale down my makeup collection. After everything was gotten rid of, I was left with ALL this space so I thought that it would make a better desk for The Hubby. He was using a desk that would actually be designed for a kid and since he's a computer tech (notice ALL the cords?), I thought he might appreciate a bigger work space. So he moved in but it made me hate it more. How can a man pile SO much in one spot, even with HUGE drawers?

What an Honor

What an honor ...

Yesterday, I was out junkin' all day so lil' did I know that my Chest of Drawers
was featured on Roadkill Rescue.

Thank you Beckie SO much for featuring all my hard work.

I'm so happy that I can inspire others to take a chance on
a piece that may seem like a HUGE challenge.

I can't wait to show ya some of the junk I found yesterday.
