$7 Table Makeover

Ever stop by a garage sale and have that ONE thing that catches your eye?
The one thing that makes you stop
That happen to me a couple weeks ago when I saw this lil' girl
I jumped out my car trying not to look too excited to get to her
but making sure that no one else would snag her before I could
With ALOT of people wandering around you can never be too fast
Do they not see her? I run up to her and of course she had no price
 So I ask a guy how much she was and he says $7. Immediately I say "I'll take it"
I pay and hurry her to my car knowing I scored : )

 Although she had some missing vaneer
(I started to fill it with wood filler before I realized I didn't take a picture, lol)

Pimpin' Out Kricket's Backpack

Howdy guys, how ya been?

My house is getting back to normal after the past week with the threat of Tropical Storm Isaac

Thank goodness it scooted up the coast and stayed far out in the the gulf

We DID get ALOT of rain and wind

I actually got to run durning an hour when 

it wasn't raining but the wind was ridiculous.

I think I burned a million more calories

Anywhoo, with school starting around the country

(it's been back in gear here for a week already), 

I thought I would share with you how I pimped out Kricket's backpack

I try to buy her a backpack that's gonna last her a couple years but that usually means that she doesn't get a backpack that's cool like the other kids

This year I told her to just pick a color and we would "pimp it out"

 We found her a Swiss Gear backpack at Sam's for $20

 Then we headed to Michael's with a bunch of 40% coupons in hand where Kricket

 picked some decals she liked as well as some rhinestones

He Stopped Me in My Tracks

I have come to the conclusion that I will NOT pass up good junk

I was out this morning on my 3mile run and I was ending my route, about a quarter of mile from my house, I see this big boy sitting out for the trash men

His name is Ethan ... Ethan Allen

That's right he's a beautiful solid wood Ethan Allen chair

The owner said he had been repaired on his far right upper spindle 

which I couldn't even really tell

Needless to say, I couldn't let him take a journey to the 

local dump so I picked him up and  

CARRIED HIM HOME

I must have looked like a crazy woman all covered in sweat, 

carrying a huge chair threw my neighborhood

But ya know what, I don't really care cuz he's mine!

He had me at "Hello" : )

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

It's the most wonderful time of the year ....

Yup, school started today and I gotta tell ya, I did
NOTHING

today and I loved EVERY SINGLE MINUTE of it!

It's not that I had a very busy summer. Ok, I really did,

but there's something for me to have NO one in the house

It just seems that I can get TONS done

So, what did I do today you may ask

~ I ran 3 miles this morning than came home and did some ab work

~ I ate REALLY well because I didn't have to make a certain 9yr old her

grilled cheese sandwiches, PB&J's, mac n' cheese, chicken nuggets or whatever she wants me to make her.

~ And lastly, I got to watch what I wanted to watch when I wanted to watch it. I don't think I had the tv on until noon

All in all it was a GOOD GREAT day

My "New" Old $20 Cabinet

So, I told ya about the cabinet I picked up Saturday for $20

 I LOVED the skeleton key that came with it

 The mahogany wood on the inside

 And the wavy glass, bubbles and all. I knew it was OLD

This Weekend's Junkin' Finds #21

Hello ya'all ...

I wanted to say thank you for all the sweet comments you guys left me about our home. It was so difficult fun to get the shots I did get. It's fun to see how the space has evolved.

If you remember last weekend's junkin' trip was non-existent. My car had died at the beginning of the morning and needed to be towed. It turned out I needed a new starter. What I didn't tell ya was Sunday our garage door decided to go crazy. The cable had come off the track and the door was cock-eyed. Not a fun weekend. However, this past weekend was better. I kept my fingers crossed that I would come across some good junk.

A Summer 2012 House Tour

For the past couple months I haven't been able to really tackle any refinishing projects. One reason is that my house has been FULL of people. It seems there's ALWAYS someone here. That's not a bad thing unless you're me and you tend to pull out all your stuff on the dining room table (which is in the middle of the room). The Hubby does the same thing whenever he works on a computer. The table looks like a landing strip for EVERYTHING. So needless to say, until school starts and everyone's working, big projects will have to wait and there's A LOT coming : )

The one thing I have done is moving stuff around.

The Hubby always jokes that he hopes he never goes blind because things get moved ALL the time in our house. Doesn't everyone move furniture every couple of weeks?

Well, this morning I had the house to myself. After a little straightening up, ok A LOT of straightening up, I thought I'd take some pictures of the house. I've made a few changes over the summer.
